Chris Pointon creates wooden sculptures specifically for the garden, terrace, patio or outdoor spaces. Each is individually crafted from native timber driftwood from east coast beaches, or from century-old Totara fence-posts. Giving new life to old driftwood and fence-posts, and recycling an under-valued resource, is an important aspect of his sculptures. He makes a range of stylised bird forms and bird baths, kaitiaki or guardian figures, totems and vegetation forms. His work reflects his interest in the New Zealand and local natural environment, history, culture, landscape and location.
